Maritime Forest Restoration

A maritime forest was clear-cut, resulting in the loss of many native species across the landscape. SRG was tasked with restoring the site using native maritime species and managing invasive species for three years following installation. The team planted hundreds of native plants, including live oak, eastern red cedar, wax myrtle, saltbush, yaupon holly, Gaillardia, and a diverse mix of native grasses. Since installation in 2024, the site has shown remarkable recovery. The planted species are thriving, and numerous native volunteer plants have naturally established, filling in previously disturbed areas. Ongoing management focuses on controlling aggressive invasive species such as Chinese tallow and mimosa, which remain prevalent on the site.
